Goal is to inform about foster care adoption

(East Syracuse, NY ~ May 4, 2010) On May 4, 2010 board members and staff from the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption visited DUMAC Business Systems’ offices to educate employees about the Foundation’s mission to dramatically increase the number of adoptions of waiting children from North America’s foster care systems.  Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy’s and an adopted child, started the foundation in 1992.

Jeff Coghlan, Wendy’s franchisee, Foundation board member and long-time customer of DUMAC’s facilitated the meeting between the two organization leaders.  Howard McCarthy, president of DUMAC Business Systems, was pleased that DUMAC was given this honor.  “With our strong 20-year relationship with the Wendy’s community and with many of our trainers, helpdesk and sales staff former Wendy’s employees, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is something we were already associated with.  To have the executive director take time out to present to our employees was something I felt we could not pass up.”

Rita Soronen, Executive Director of the Foundation, was happy to oblige:  “Our job is to generate awareness of the urgent need for foster care adoption, and meeting with the employees of DUMAC is just one of many ways to reach many people as possible.  We are hoping that the word spreads from those that attended the presentation to their friends and families.  Every child should have a permanent home and a loving family.”

After a short tour of the offices at DUMAC, a video and presentation were made by Ms. Soronen and Kate Bartalon, Development Director, followed by a question and answer session with employees.

Restaurant Log – eliminates the need for paper logs between managers and includes a district manager view of the notes managers leave each other

Multiple mid-day counts – allows managers and district managers to narrow down when inventory shrink occurs.
