Linking fuel sales to grocery sales to enhance customer loyalty – Do ALL of your customers get excited about $.99 off of a box of cereal?  Probably not. Would ALL of your customers be excited about $.10, $.20, or $.30+ off per gallon of gas?  I’ll bet they would.  Does your store already offer fuel?  If so great, but even if you don’t, you can partner with a local fuel retailer.  You can now offer cents off per gallon based on total transaction purchase, or cents off for purchasing certain items.  For example, spend $50 on your visit, get $.10 off on your next fuel purchase, or buy ½ gallon of ice cream and save $.03 per gallon of gas, or buy an 8-12 pound pork loin and save $.50 per gallon!
