User Exits Concord Check Authorization Version

Return to User Exits Menu

Requirements: NCR 2127's release 3.2 (1.01.06) and higher, 3.5 (1.01.03) and higher. NOTE: This currently requires the Dumac "Standard Version" user exit in order to function.

The Concord Check Authorization user exit allows the store to connect the Welch Allyn 8310 MICR reader to the 2127 or the NCR 7158 Thermal Printer, through the 2127-K175-0000 board via the RS232 connector (the MagTek MICR will be added in the future). The user exit performs the following functions:

  • Accepts both PERSONAL and PAYROLL checks
  • At check tender, the cashier will enter the check $ amount and press the check tender key. The 2127 will prompt for the check number. The cashier will pass the check through the MICR reader.
  • The MICR reader will read the account number and bank number from the bottom of the check.
  • The 2127 will then prompt for the Drivers License Number (DLN) and the State abbreviation before sending the transaction to Concord. The cashier can either press <P1> to bypass this and send the transaction to Concord (cashier believes the DLN is already on file with Concord) or enter the DLN and State.
  • If the cashier enters the DLN and State, the 2127 converts to "ALPHA" mode (which requires the NCR alpha template). The cashier enters the DLN followed by <P1> and then the State Code followed by <P1>. Optionally, the cashier can press <P1> in the "State" mode if the customer is from the same state as the store.

Examples:

DLN 123456789 from the State of New York with store not in New York =
     123456789 <P1>
     NY <P1>

DLN 123456789 from the State of New York with store in New York =
     123456789 <P1>
     <P1>

  • The PAYROLL check mandates that the DLN be entered
  • The PERSONAL check allows the Cashier to bypass the DLN entry.
  • Concord will either; deny, approve, require DLN information or allow an over-ride.
  • If the DLN is not entered, and Concord does not have the DLN on file for that particular account number, Concord will send back a "deny" with a "code 08." The code 08 will show on the cashier's display as "ID REQUIRED." The cashier will then re-tender the check and enter the DLN and State (the check does not need to be sent trough the MICR again). The new transaction will then be re-submitted to Concord.
  • If Concord sends back an over-ride, the store will enter an approval code and press <P1>. Concord will then record the information and send back their approval code.
  • On final approval from Concord, all of the required information will be printed with the validation on the back of the check.
