DUMAC User Exits for the NCR 2127 Information Packet

User Exits Standard Version

for NCR 2127 3.0 and above

Return to User Exits Menu

Requirements: NCR 2127's, 3.2 (1.01.06) and higher, or 3.5 (1.01.03) and higher (Note: some features must have 3.2 or above to function. Dumac recommends the latest version of 3.2 or 3.5 from NCR in order to incorporate the latest fixes and enhancements).

The Standard Version includes the following:

Frequent Buyer Enhancements

  • Use any 4X value (except 43) as the Frequent Buyer ID number - the standard 2127 only allows "X" to be a 1 or 0.
  • Allows "cents off" per pound on random weight items
  • Full support for 21 column printers (all Multifunction Printer capabilities)
  • Ability to print both "You Saved" and "You would have Saved" on the Receipt. (NOTE: This can be turned off for a particular tender).
  • Various Fixes to random weight/void problems for 2127 release 3.0

Use Frequent Buyer Card as Check Cashing Card

This user exit allows you to get the check cashing number from the Frequent Buyer card so that the customer only has to carry one card with them. At check tender, when the 2127 asks for the Account Number it can be entered in the following ways:

  • If the Frequent Buyer card has already been scanned, and that is the number you want, just press <ENTER>
  • Enter the Check Account Number manually, Press <ENTER>
  • Scan the Frequent Buyer Card
  • Enter the Frequent Buyer Card # manually, Press <UPC>
  • Enter the Frequent Buyer Card # manually, Press <ENTER>

Signature Receipt

This user exit allows a second receipt to be printed on the 2127 Receipt for all Credit Card and optionally Debit Card transactions. The 2127 issues the Customer receipt first, and then automatically issues a signature receipt for the customer to sign.

  • Supports both 21 Column and Multifunction Printers
  • The store can designate which Tenders print a second Receipt (Credit and/or Debit or House Charges), which second Receipt produces a signature line and whether the Cardholders name as it appears on the Credit or Debit Card prints or the description "Customer Signature" prints under the signature line (NOTE: Requires 2127 3.2 (1.01.09) or greater and Cardholder name printing below the signature line is not supported on the 21 column printer)
  • The cash drawer can be set to open only after the second receipt has been printed to keep the drawer closed as long as possible.
  • The information printed on the second receipt can now come from what is printed on the journal rather than the customer receipt. This allows the store to remove all credit/debit information from the customer's receipt.

Allow Customer to Swipe Credit/Debit Card themselves during Transactions

A customer can activate the 4430/5944/5945 themselves at any time during the order. If the transaction is a credit transaction, the 2127 will finalize when the cashier presses the <CREDIT CARD> key. If it is a DEBIT transaction, the customer will then be prompted for their PIN number.

Credit Card Number Truncation

This user exit will allow the 2127 to limit the print to only the last 4 digits of an EFT account number on the customer receipt or on a validation slip. This allows the store to keep in full compliance with the new EFT regulations.

  • Example: Account # 6011 0000 1234 5678 prints as XXXX XXXX XXXX 5678
  • The full account number is printed on the Journal Tape.
  • Off-Line transactions print the full account number on the store copy of the receipt.
  • Non EFT transactions will print the full account number.

Coupon Scanning

This exit will help prevent the store from losing money on Coupon type 00, 01, 14, 16 and 19 values, which are the buy "X" get "Y" free, or manual coupon entry (NOTE: NCR fixed this "over-site" in 3.2 release 1.01.15, HOWEVER it is still needed with all versions of 2127 if the store "Doubles" coupons, since the NCR software doubles the free portion as well).

  • If the store is Scanning Manufacturer Coupons at the Manufacturer Code level, there are problems with any Free type promotions. For certain coupons, the standard 2127 gives the customer the first item that matches that Manufacturer code Free. Since it might be the wrong item and this wrong item may be significantly higher in price, the store can lose a lot of money.
  • For Coupon type 00, 01, 14, 16 and 19 values, if the store is using the automatic Double Coupon feature, this user exit does not double the portion considered FREE.

Display Negative/Positive Check Name

This user exit will display the 12 character name that is programmable for the Negative or Positive Check cashing system on the operator display of the 2127, to verify that the name matches the account number.

  • Length of time of display can be set in Action Code 261.

Scan a Supervisor's Badge (Requires 2127 3.2 or above)

If the store issues a bar coded Supervisors badge, the supervisor can scan their badge in lieu of entering their Supervisor number through the <ENTER> key. NOTE: if the 2127 is defined to turn the Supervisor key, that would still be required.

  • The badge must be UPC-A with one of the following formats:

"4T000000SSS" bar code.     "0000000SSS" bar code.

"4T0000SSSXX" bar code.     "00000SSSXX" bar code.

"4T000SSSXXX" bar code.     "0000SSSXXX" bar code.

T = Type of UPC number (cannot use "3")

SSS is the Supervisor number

XX = the secret digits

(NOTE: The Frequent Shopper number cannot have the value "T" the same type as the supervisor number). Also, this feature requires 2127 3.2 1.01.09 software release or higher to work).

Full Duplicate Receipt with full item detail (with Signature Receipt allowed)

Many Liquor stores need to provide the customer with a "Proof of Purchase" beyond the original receipt. This program resolves the problem where the customer purchases several items, each requiring an "original" receipt to be mailed by the customer to the Manufacturer as the proof of purchase in order to receive their rebate from the Manufacturer.

  • A maximum of 60 items will print. If the sale exceeds 60 items the balance of the receipt states a message indicating so. Tax and method of payment, etc. do print.
  • Press the <DUPLICATE RECEIPT> key and the system will print another complete receipt.
  • Enter the number of receipts needed and press the <DUPLICATE RECEIPT> key. The system will print the number required. The maximum number of receipts allowed is set in Action Code 261.
  • NOTE: If this USER EXIT is chosen, then the Signature copy of the receipts for EFT transactions will also print all item detail.

Press <CLEAR> to open the Cash Drawer, during Tender

This user exit allows the operator to keep the cash drawer closed until they are ready to perform an action such as forms validation, on any selected tender key. Once complete, they press the <CLEAR> key to open the drawer.

  • The store can selectively allow this function by tender key, for Non-EFT tenders.
  • With the "Signature Receipt " feature, this is how EFT behaves.

Don't allow Bypassing of Birthdate entry with the Enter key

This user exit will disable the use of the enter key to bypass birthdate entry. The cashier will be required to enter a 6 digit number. The cashier can still enter 111111, but they can't just bypass the entry.

Accept EAN99 Store Coupons

This user exit will allow the store to accept EAN99 store coupons the same way it currently accepts type 5 vendor coupons. The type 99 coupon is converted to a type 5 coupon, and the system will prohibit automatic doubling of these coupons. The financial bucket that will be updated for type 99 coupons will be the same bucket used for type 5 coupons.

Second Receipt for Credit/Debit cards now can use Journal print positions

The original software for printing the second receipt for credit/debit cards required that any information you wanted printed on the store copy, be printed on the customer receipt. Now, all debit/credit information can be removed from the customer receipt, and the information printed on the signature slip will be from what is printed on the journal. This software does not work with the Full Duplicate Receipt User Exit.
