Howard (second generation) officially joined DUMAC as the 18th employee on May 1, 1979 after graduating from Broome Community College with an AAS degree in Marketing Sales. During the past 37 years, Howard has been instrumental in the growth and success of DUMAC and spearheaded DUMAC's entry into the Hospitality industry in 1982, which today services customers across North America and Hawaii. Howard has served on several Industry and manufacturers advisory boards. In 1998, Howard travelled to Yokohama, Japan as a V.I.P guest of Panasonics parent company, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. where he toured several factories and met with senior management. Since becoming Chief Executive Officer in 2009, DUMAC has grown to nearly 300 full time employees with five offices across the United States.
Outside of DUMAC, if there is such a thing, Howard is very active with several local Charities. Howard resides in Syracuse with his wife Janice. They have three adult children and three grandchildren. Howard enjoys many outdoor activities including deep sea fishing.
Dave joined Dumac in 1971 following graduation from the University of Dayton with an Education major in History and Mathematics. Dave currently serves as Dumac's CFO. Dave spent many years in sales, primarily in the supermarket division and was Dumac's Chairman and CEO prior to transitioning to CFO to make room for the next generation.
Dave served on the RSPA (our Industry Association) Board of Directors between 1991 – 2002, as RSPA President in 1999-2000, and as the RSPA Secretary/Treasurer in 2003-2005 and 2006-2012. Dave served on the NCR Retail Advisory Council from its inception in 1990 through 2000 and the Panasonic Dealer Advisory Board from 2000 through 2005.
In his free time, Dave is an avid cyclist and does Time Trial races (currently 3rd in NYS for his age bracket), helping coach other cyclists and spending time with his wife Norma, traveling when time permits.
Shaun is currently president and COO of DUMAC Business Systems and is responsible for the company's day-to-day operations. Since joining DUMAC in 1990, Shaun spent most of his career working in sales in the supermarket division.
Prior to joining DUMAC, Shaun worked in both the medical and financial fields. He received a bachelor's degree in Economics with minors in both computer science and communications.
Outside of work, he leads an active lifestyle with his wife Tracy and their three children.
Phil joined DUMAC in 1992. Having held positions in sales and management, he is currently a partner and Vice President. Phil has led DUMAC in their ever increasing expansion in the grocery retail space, through both territory growth and business acquisitions.
He served many years as an elected member of the StoreNext Business Council, and as a member of the NCR Partner Advisory Board. He currently serves as a member of the RSPA's Education & Certification Committee.
Having spent most of his career working with independent supermarkets, Phil has a passion for insuring that they have access to quality technology solutions with exceptional support.
In his free time, Phil enjoys bicycle racing and hiking with his wife and their two dogs.
Stephen joined DUMAC in 1994 and is currently the Vice President of Corporate Sales.
Prior to joining DUMAC, Steve worked for The Wendy's Company for 15 years. He has a BA in Economics from Potsdam College.
He has said, "It's not about the next generation of technology; it's about who you want to do business with into the next generation!" Steve mentors the sales team, and other members of the DUMAC team to do better than the day before so that it is easy for customers to work with DUMAC into the next generation.
He, along with CEO Howard McCarthy, spearheaded the initial development of SmartBackOffice (SBOnet) and today ensures that the product changes with the industry. DUMAC shares ideas with people in business to help them become more profitable.
When Steve turns off the light-switch, he enjoys golfing in charity events that sponsor The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. When he is not hitting out of the rough, he and his wife Claudine enjoy traveling to visit with their children.
Joe currently serves as DUMAC's chief technology officer. Since bagging his first can of beans at a Jewel Food Store in Chicago, Joe has more than 40 years of retail grocery experience.
Most recently, he served as president and CEO of Retailer Owned Research Company (RORC), which was newly acquired by DUMAC. Joe guided the design effort of the RORCv6, the point-of-sale system custom-built for the grocery business.
Throughout his career, Joe has held several management and senior management positions in the areas of information technology, market research, production, warehousing and transportation. He has a strong background in supply chain management and understands the critical role point-of-sale systems play in the process of buying, distributing, and selling products. In addition, he is well versed in project management and has taught courses in process improvement at Gonzaga University.
Joe holds an undergraduate degree in Operations Management and a M.B.A. from Loyola University of Chicago. Joe spends his free time traveling with his wife and woodworking.
Michael Currently serves as DUMAC's Vice president of Major Accounts. His Career in retail Technology started in 1987 as a college intern with NCR. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1989.
Michael's successful career at NCR earned him many awards for top sales in major accounts. He opened an NCR Reseller office in Oklahoma in 1991. Michaels company, Retail Data Solutions merged with Dumac in 2014. He has over 30yrs of expertise in the Grocery and Hospitality Industry. Michael was on the Board of Directors for the RSPA from 2001-2007 and on the NCR Advisory Board prior to that.
In his free time, Michael enjoys the lake and outdoor activities. He has 2 grown children.
Tom Hahn currently serves as Vice-President of Special Projects and Governance. In this role, he looks for continuous ways to improve our processes and procedures at DUMAC. His 30 years of employment with DUMAC include a variety of Vice-President positions in customer service, marketing, and HR. His understanding on how and why current processes and procedures are in place provide the insight into how they can get better.
Tom received his B.S. in Marketing from Plattsburgh State University in 1981 and his M.S. in Information Resource Management from Syracuse University in 1998.
A native central New Yorker, Tom enjoys golf, skiing, snowboarding, and running. He, and his wife Ellen, live in Baldwinsville, NY.
